I am running the London Marathon in memory of my daughters Molly and Maisy who were sadly born too soon on behalf of the Charity BLISS. A charity that supports babies born too soon, too small and too sick.
The Marathon I hear you say! 26 miles! WHY! I find myself asking the same question, Several months ago I would have said that I was determined to run the marathon before I was 45 following the "running steps" of my brother and sister who have already achieved this amazing feat!
Now my reasons why are some what different.
Am I a runner? No not at all, Do I enjoy Running? Sometimes if it is to the bar at closing or for a bus, until I met my fiancée Jo. Jo and I ran the half marathon in Ealing in 2014 following her heart operation and admiring her determination of "you can do anything you want, IF you put your mind to it' approach I thought "lets go for it" and entered the ballot.
Then my reasons for entering the marathon changed.
Sadly last August our lives changed dramatically, Jo and I were happily engaged and delighted to be 17 weeks pregnant with twins! Life as they say was rosy. Then suddenly our worst nightmare became reality when we were told at the hospital that there was nothing that they could do to save our healthy girls.
Molly and Maisy were born too soon on Friday 28th August 2015 and instantly became borrowed angels. We were lucky to see our beautiful girls wriggle around via scans. Sadly this is all we got to see of them. They remain constantly in our thoughts and we have learnt that sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart. Further complications meant that I also nearly lost Jo and I thank God that he kept her with us. She is an inspiration to me and I am running the marathon for her too, to thank her for inspiring me and helping me fulfil this achievement.
I feel so honored to be running the London Marathon in memory of Molly and Maisy on behalf of BLISS and I hope I will do my daughters and family proud.
If you are around on the 24th of April - please come and cheer me on!
I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my story and for your generous donation to support this amazing charity and keep me motivated with my thoughts of my daughters to keep me moving.
